This is one of the few Lutheran churches that hasn't given in to the idea of "contemporary" worship and "seeker services." It is a great place to worship, and is especially comfortable for Roman Catholics and Episcopalians who might not be in church because of issues with their respective churches. The Mass is recognizable, the pastor is an excellent preacher, and the organist is outstanding. It's a great find of a church, even as small as it is. It won't be small for long! Oh, they have a school, too! This is a small, but growing, congregation nestled between Power Mill Rd and US-1. It's worth the drive, especially if you are looking for a friendly church with a traditional liturgy. The pastor is a great preacher and knowledgeable teacher. The director of music/organist is fabulous (he was the pianist for the Marine Band and White House in his younger days). The school is the Augsburg Academy (www.augsburgacademy.net), and has K4, K5, and 1st Grade. They plan to add a grade or two a year through at least 8th grade, and are hoping to go straight through high school. The kindergarteners were speaking French, singing in German and Spanish, adding and subtacting 2-digit numbers, working in fractions, counting money, and reading at the 1st grade level this year.
